The Department of Social Services (DSS) provides a broad range of services to the elderly, persons with disabilities, families, and individuals who need assistance in maintaining or achieving their full potential for self-direction, self-reliance, and independent living. Connecticut’s free information and referral service. Simply by dialing 2-1-1, a toll-free number throughout Connecticut, callers can reach knowledgeable, multilingual staff and get information, referrals or seek help in a crisis. 2-1-1 operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Focus on Canton, Inc.

A non-profit community-based group dedicated to nurturing, assisting, and enabling the residents of Canton. It was created to coordinate community efforts to assist Canton residents with personal and community needs not otherwise met.http://www.focusoncanton.org/about.htm 

Gifts of Love

Gifts of Love in Avon helps meet the basic needs of individuals and families in Central Connecticut experiencing a financial crisis so that they can achieve and maintain self-sufficiency. Their clients are hardworking people who simply can’t make ends meet. 860.676.2323. 

The Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association

NCAAA

The North Central Area Agency on Aging (NCAAA) is a regional non-profit organization based in Hartford that provides planning and management of funding and advocacy for services to older persons and their caregivers in the 38-town North Central Connecticut region. 800.994.9422.

Canton Parents as Teachers

Canton Parents as Teachers seek to provide education and support to parents in their role as their child’s first and best teacher. The program provides home visits, activity groups, resource networking and developmental screenings to any participating Canton family with young children between the ages of birth to five.
