Chief of Department - Fire Service/Emergency Medical Service
The Board of Selectmen is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief of the Town of Canton Volunteer Fire Service/ Emergency Medical Service Department. The successful candidate will meet the minimum standards as outlined in the attached job description. The appointment by the Board of Selectmen, following consultation with the Chief Administrative Officer, is for a term of four (4) years beginning January 1, 2023 and ending December 31, 2026. The position currently receives an annual stipend of $15,000.
The Appointment Process
Interested candidates shall submit to the CAO’s Office, or email email@example.com, a written letter of interest, detailed resume and supporting materials describing abilities and skills no later than November 10, 2022. After a review of the written submissions, a five (5) member panel consisting of (3) representatives of the volunteer Fire/EMS Department along with two (2) members of the public will interview interested candidates. Based on the interviews, the panel will rank the top three (3) candidates who will then be forwarded to the Board of Selectmen for consideration.
The Board of Selectmen will interview the recommended candidate with the appointment to follow shortly thereafter.
