In consultation with Town of Canton leadership and the Farmington Valley Health District, we have made the decision to close the Canton Senior Center to the public indefinitely effective Monday, March 16, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Senior & Social Services staff will still be working though the Senior Center is closed, and will be available to help by E-mail or phone call.
Foodshare's food distribution at Rentschler Field, 615 Silver Lane, East Hartford continues throughout the month of October. Foodshare will be distributing food on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30AM-12:00PM. One allocation of food per car per day will be distributed to ensure that there is enough food for everyone. Gates close at 12:00 noon.
*We are excited to inform you that we will be transitioning to a new lunch program beginning Wednesday,
October 7th! September 30th, 2020 will be the last day for CRT provided meals. Due to the current pandemic guidelines, we are unable to offer indoor dining at this time. Therefore, we will be using a "Grab & Go" lunch pick up at the Canton Senior Center on Wednesdays and Fridays. Lunches will now be made on the premises by our Cafe Coordinator, Laura Geyer. Laura will be offering homemade, nutritious meals using local produce.
Please call 860-693-5811 for additional information.
*The Town of Canton Emergency Management, Social Services and the Community Emergency Management Team (CERT) are offering assistance to any Canton residents who are in need of supplies such as food and water.
