6/25/2025 - Washburn Road Bridge Replacement

The Town of Canton has contracted with Schultz Construction Inc. to replace the bridge over Jim Brook on Washburn Road. Beginning next Monday June 30th , Washburn Road will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of the project. The existing bridge will be demolished and a new one constructed. Washburn Road will be open to local traffic only, which in this case refers to residents of the street and side roads on both sides of the bridge for the duration of the project. Vehicles will only be able to go as far as the bridge when traveling from Lawton Rd or Notch Rd, there will be no thru- traffic. The bridge itself will be inaccessible. The project term is tentatively scheduled to run from June 30th,  2025 to November 30th, 2025, although the contractor will work to have the bridge opened as soon as possible.  A detour route will be in place, please look for the detour signs which will be set up this week. If there are any questions, please call Public Works at 860-693-7855. Thanks very much for your patience during this very important infrastructure project.
