Dear Canton Residents,

I hope you are enjoying these last days of the summer season. I wanted to share a few important community items with you.

This Saturday, September 17th is FOCUS on Canton’s 7th Annual Walk for Food and Fuel. The walk starts and ends at Canton High School, and registration is at 8:30 a.m. You can get more information and register on-line at www.FocusOnCanton.org. All proceeds will go to the Canton Food Bank and Canton Fuel Bank, which provide important assistance to our neighbors in need. I hope to see many residents there!

September is Emergency Preparedness Month. Last Friday, members of the Canton police, volunteer fire and EMS, the Community Emergency Response Team, and the Fire Marshal teamed up with the American Red Cross to provide and install free smoke detectors to 35 residents who registered for this service. The American Red Cross will continue to provide this service to any resident. You can register at www.redcross.org/ct/schedule-a-visit, or call 877-287-3327. I am grateful to our Canton first responders and the American Red Cross for their generosity and efforts to help Canton families stay safe.

I always welcome your comments or questions, and can be reached at lhill@townofcantonct.org, or at 860-693-7847. My office hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 – 1:30.

Best regards,
Leslee B. Hill
