Built between 1893 and 1896 at a cost of $1,730, the building features a heavy concrete foundation that was used to support butter making machinery.  The creamery sold milk and butter from local farms to dairies in New Haven and Hartford.  At the peak of production, 400 pounds of butter per day were produced.  In 1982, the cooperative Canton Creamery Association, Inc. dissolved.
