5/13/2015 - Canton is a great town, but it needs many people to keep it running

Canton is a great town, but it needs many people to keep it running. Municipal elections are coming on November 3, 2015, presenting you with a wonderful opportunity to serve. Candidates are being sought by both Democrats and Republicans.

Offices to be filled are as follows:

FIRST SELECTMAN: One to a 4 year term

SELECTMEN: Two to a 2 year term

SELECTMEN: Two to a 4 year term

BOARD OF FINANCE: Three to a 4 year term

BOARD OF EDUCATION: Four to a 4 year term

ASSESSMENT APPEALS: Two to a 4 year term

CONSTABLES: Seven to a two year term

Reviewing the Canton web site  will give you a better understanding of the role of the various boards. From the main page go to Government and then Boards and Commissions. It would also be helpful for you to contact the people who are presently serving. One recent officeholder has said that serving, "not only gave me an incredible insight into the workings of the town, but also afforded me the opportunity to use my skill and have an impact on the future of Canton."

If you are interested, please contact Brian First, Republican Town Chairman, at
860-693-8188 or brianfirst1@comcast.net  OR Tom Sevigny, Democratic Town Chairman, at 860-830-3994 or capeconn@comcast.net.
