"Your River Day" - Celebrate 20 Years of Wild & Scenic on the Upper Farmington River
Celebrate "Your River Day!" The Farmington River Coordinating Committee (FRCC) invites you to celebrate your river at the 20th Anniversary Celebration for the Upper Farmington River’s Wild and Scenic designation. This free, fun-filled, and educational event will take place Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Peoples State Forest in Barkhamsted, Connecticut.
Many of the festivities will focus on our river’s outstanding resource values – high water quality, excellent trout and Atlantic salmon habitat, various recreational opportunities, and many notable historic features.
Special guests will talk about the history of the designation. There will also be music from local band, Travelin’ Trout and an ice cream social.
Brief hands-on workshops and activities including a boating demonstration, Junior River Ranger Activity booklet and games, an historic “Walk Through Time,” an invasive plant walk, fly casting, and others will be offered to attendees - a great opportunity for kids and families.
