10/7/2013 - *Flu vaccines are now available

Flu vaccines are now available

The beginning of flu season is upon us and it is important to take preventative measures very seriously. The flu or influenza is a very contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses.  The virus can be very dangerous, especially to seniors, children, and those with existing health problems.  An effective way to prevent the spread of the flu is by getting vaccinated. This year’s vaccine is now being sent to pharmacies and health care providers such as the Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association. Each new vaccine is tailored for the new strains of flu that emerge and it is imperative to get the current version of the vaccine annually.
