5/27/2019 - Calling all Veterans and Civic/youth Groups who'd like to participate in this year's Memorial Day Parade

Calling all Veterans!

Join Greg Sims, this years' Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshal, as we honor all those who serve and sacrifice for our freedom.  Over the last several years, the number of Veterans participating in the Memorial Day Parade has decreased. We understand that many of the older Veterans may not be up to marching. For that reason, we would like to offer Veterans both the opportunity to ride in the Parade and to be picked up prior to the parade. The Canton Community Center will be open to Veterans for coffee and donuts on parade day, Monday, May 27, 2019, at 8:45 a.m. If you plan to participate in the parade, need a ride or would like to be picked up prior to the event, please contact Claudia Nardi, Executive Assistant to CAO & First Selectman at (860) 693-7841.

Other civic or youth groups that wish to march are also welcome to join; if interested in joining please contact Claudia at (860) 693-7841. All groups should plan to gather at the Canton Intermediate School at 9:30 a.m. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. heading south on Dyer Ave; taking a right onto Maple Ave; taking a left onto Main Street; taking a right onto Center Street and proceeding to the Village Cemetery where a memorial service will be held.

Hope you are able to join us as we honor our Veterans on May 27th.
