11/4/2017 - Hike Canton Land Trust’s Tom Perry Trail Sat. Nov. 4

Hike Canton Land Trust’s Tom Perry Trail Sat. Nov. 4

Enjoy wildlife, fall foliage, history and beauty on a hike of the Canton Land Conservation Trust’s Tom Perry Trail, Sat. Nov. 4 at 1:30 p.m., led by Land Trust Director Scott Persing.

The Tom Perry Trail is on the Trust’s Sun, Wind and Woodland preserve. The hike will begin near the site of the Trust’s “Bunny Cut”, a clearing intended to provide a habitat for the dwindling New England Cottontail.

The trail runs along old stone walls and crosses a brook on a wooden bridge. Hikers will see reforested pasture lands and hear migrating song birds, and may spot American toads, wood frogs and white-tailed deer.

This is a moderately difficult, one-and-half hour hike. Wear sturdy walking shoes, especially because leaves may be slippery if it has rained. Please leave dogs at home. In case of heavy rain, check www.cantonlandtrust.org for possible postponement.

Directions are at http://cantonlandtrust.org/maps/topo/SunWindWoodlandWithDir.jpg. From Route 44, turn north on Indian Hill Road. In 1.4 miles turn right on Breezy Hill Road. In a half mile, just past a red house on the left, turn left into the parking area.
