12/21/2021 - A. Idella Hugins

YOUR SILENT NEIGHBORS, A. Idella Hugins, Church Worker

Born in Granville, Massachusetts, A. Idella Hugins (1859-1933) came to Collinsville in 1881 after marrying Charles O. Hugins, the village undertaker. She was active in Trinity Church and the local branch of the Red Cross.  She was also a member of the Ruby Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. 

Hugins had two sons and a daughter.  Her son Harold succeeded her husband as an undertaker in Collinsville. 

Briefly ill, Hugins died in Hartford Hospital.  The funeral was held at the Maple Avenue home of her daughter, Sarah Parsons. 

Idella Hugins is buried in the Village Cemetery, Collinsville.
