Café Coordinator (PT)

The Town of Canton seeks a part-time, six hour a week Café Coordinator to join our Senior & Social Services department.  This position is responsible for the operation of the Town of Canton’s senior luncheon program for citizens ages fifty – five and older.  The Café Coordinator is responsible for daily inventory of food items and ordering of supplies within established guidelines, serving food with the coordination of volunteers, cleanliness of the Café and equipment all while maintaining proper sanitation and food handling procedures.   Minimum Qualifications include attaining a High School Diploma or (GED) and one (1) year of increasingly responsible work experience in meal program delivery.  A combination of education and experience may be considered.  ServeSafe certification preferred with the ability to maintain certification by attending at least one (1) statewide training session yearly.  Rate of pay $13.00 hourly.   Interested applicants should submit an application to the Town of Canton, 4 Market Street, Collinsville CT. 06022 to the Attention of Robert H. Part-Time Transfer Station Supervisor

The Town of Canton seeks applicants for the part-time position of Transfer Station Supervisor.  This 24 hour a week position is responsible for the operation of the Transfer Station facility in accordance with State and local requirements.  Responsibilities include the maintenance of all operational records, the oversight of haulers and waste disposal services, and assisting the public as required while ensuring proper and authorized utilization of the facility. Applicant must have a High School diploma or general education degree (GED) along with experience working in a transfer station or around construction equipment. Experience working with the general public or a similar combination of education and experience required. This position plans, organizes and directs activities related to the construction and maintenance of all town facilities and infrastructure. Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 DOQ. Library Aide I: Children’s

The Town of Canton is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, customer-service-oriented self-starter to join the staff of the Canton Public Library as a part-time Library Aide I in our busy and dynamic Children’s department. This is an excellent position for someone looking for mentoring, training, and experience in the diverse duties required for children’s library services professionals. Responsibilities of the position include: planning and carrying out children’s programming (particularly with children age 4 and under); staffing the children’s desk; providing reference and readers’ advisory services to children and families; creating signs, flyers, and displays; processing library materials; assisting patrons with computers, copier, library catalog, etc.; and other routine library and office tasks.

Qualified applicants must possess a high school diploma and have experience working in a customer-facing environment, including experience working directly with children. Bachelor’s degree and work experience in a library or early childhood education environment preferred. The successful candidate will enjoy and have experience working with children, tweens, and families; be familiar and current with children’s literature and library services; have excellent customer service and communication skills; and be welcoming, courteous, and friendly to patrons of all ages. Strong computer and technology skills are essential. Library Page

The Canton Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Page.  Position is 3-6 hours per week, and every other Saturday for 3 hours.  Responsibilities of the position include: re-shelving all library materials and neatening stack areas; assisting in keeping library clean and organized by straightening chairs, re-shelving materials left on tables and ledges, and picking up discarded items in the library; responding to routine questions from patrons regarding location of materials; assisting staff by retrieving materials from shelf; repairing damaged items; photocopying; and performing other clerical tasks.  Applicants must have the ability to communicate clearly and courteously with co-workers and the public.  Must be able to lift, bend, reach, squat, and maneuver heavy carts full of library materials.

Basketball Referee (Part Time)


Rate: Starting at $11.00/hour
Job Description: The Basketball Referee(s) applies recreation league policies and enforces basketball rules to uphold an appropriate level of control, fairness and safety during games. Maintains safety standards and practices at all times. Follows and enforces town and department policies.
General Duties:
• Referees basketball league games for groups from K-8th grade
• Assist the onsite coordinator with set up for games
• Maintains superior communication with supervisors, coaches, fellow referees, participants, and parents
• Ensures the safety and well-being of all program participants by providing high quality risk management at all times
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Experience working with children preferably in youth sports environment
• General understanding of basketball rules
Reports to: Recreation Supervisor and the Director of Parks and Recreation
Status: Part time during basketball season (hours vary based on program needs). Saturdays (morning/afternoon) expected

Basketball Coordinator (Part Time)

Job Description: The Basketball Coordinator(s) oversees all aspects of the youth Recreation Basketball League and Adult Basketball Drop-In programs. Maintains safety standards and practices at all times. Follows and enforces town and department policies. Ensures quality customer service to all program participants.
General Duties:
• Assists the Recreation Supervisor with all aspects of planning a winter Recreation Basketball League for groups from K-8th grade
• Helps recruit parent volunteers, referees and officials as needed
• Organizes and implements pre-season coach training, parent orientation, assessment night and player draft
• Assists with preparation of program budget and operate within budget
• Assists with the preparation of promotional materials, league schedules and provides operational oversight to program practices and games
• Prepares written reports as requested, prep rosters and maintain documents
• Maintains superior communication with supervisors, coaches, fellow referees, participants, and parents
• Ensures the safety and well-being of all program participants by providing high quality risk management at all times
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Experience working with children and supervising staff in a youth sports environment
• Working knowledge of the sport of basketball, scheduling and excellent communication
• At least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and transportation
Reports to: Recreation Supervisor and the Director of Parks and Recreation
Status: Part time during basketball season (hours vary based on program needs). Evenings and Saturdays expected
