Summer Aide for Children’s Services @ Canton Public Library
The Canton Public Library seeks a Summer Aide for Children’s Services. This is a temporary, part-time position which requires library and children’s programming experience.
Responsibilities of the position include: helping to prepare, present and clean up children’s library programs; working at the Children’s Room service desk answering questions from patrons, assisting with computers, and helping patrons with the summer reading program; assisting with collection maintenance and displays; performing other duties as requested or assigned.
The position is 20 hours per week on average for the months of July and August only. Position may start in mid to late June as budget permits. Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings. $12.14 per hour.
Requirements: High School diploma with experience working with children and familiarity with children’s literature preferred. Strong computer skills a must. Must be able to learn routine library procedures, follow oral and written instructions, and communicate clearly and courteously with co-workers and the public.

Temporary Recreation Supervisor
The Town of Canton seeks applicants for the position of Temporary Recreation Supervisor. This position is a seasonal position at 35 hours per week from approximately July 1 through August 30th. September through mid/late October will be part-time at 18 hours per week. The rate of pay for the position is $22.00-25.00 per hour based on experience.
The Temporary Recreation Supervisor will assist the Recreation Director in the coordination of a comprehensive public recreation program for the community including direct oversight of Mills Pond Pool and all aquatics programs, sports camps, theatre camps, and special events.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Recreation, Parks and Recreation Administration, or a closely related field is preferred although not required. Related experience conducting organized recreational/youth service activities and varied administrative responsibilities is a plus. EOE

Summer Youth Employment Program
We are pleased to announce the 4th Annual Summer Youth Employment Program. This program has two positions available. The Summer Youth Employment Program for 2019 is open to Canton youth who are town residents between the ages of 16 and 17 as of June 24, 2019; the first day of the program. Youth in the program must have written permission from their parents or guardians, and (once selected to participate) submit Working Papers. Participants will receive $10.10 per hour and work 25 hours per week. Actual employment dates will be from June 24, 2019 through August 16, 2019, a period of eight weeks. This is a non-benefited, temporary position. Assignment procedures will be explained correctly under the guidance of town staff to ensure safe and efficient work. All work is intended to be meaningful, help motivate career consideration, develop good work habits, and promote the Town of Canton. The required dress will be appropriate to the work assignment. Participants will work out of the Department of Public Works, Building Maintenance Division. The two positions will assist with various work assignments in several town buildings/grounds reporting to the Building Maintenance Supervisor. EOE
