Library FAQ
1. What are the library’s hours?
The library is open Monday through Thursday, 10:00am to 8:00pm and Friday and Saturdays, 10:00am to 5pm. The library is also open on Sundays, 1:00pm to 4:00pm, from November to March. During the summer, July through Labor Day weekend, the library is closed on Saturdays.
2. Where is the library located?
The library is located at 40 Dyer Avenue directly across the street from the Canton Intermediate School. Directions are available on the library’s website which is http://www.cantonpubliclibrary.org or by calling the library at 693-5800.
3. How do I contact the library?
The library’s phone number is 693-5800. The fax is 693-5804.
4. Does the library have Internet access?
Yes.
5. Does the library have a word processor available?
Yes.
6. What do I need to obtain a library card?
The library requires identification, verifying name and Canton address. Examples of acceptable identification are driver’s license, delivered mail, and checkbooks with printed name and address. Children 12 and under require a parent’s signature. Minimum age requirement for a card is five years old or be able to write first and last name.
7. Do you have a website?
The library maintains a web address at www.cantonpubliclibrary.org.
8. Do you renew materials?
Items may be renewed in person or by telephone unless there is a reserve on that particular item.
9. May I borrow material from other libraries?
A Canton Public Library card is valid at any public library in the state. A cardholder may visit other public libraries and borrow material directly or have the library staff request materials from other libraries to be delivered to the library for a patron.
10. Does the library have museum passes?
The library has a variety of museum passes for loan to Canton residents only. The Peabody Museum, the Hillstead, the Science Center and New England Air Museum are samples of our offerings.
