Mil Rate

The current Fiscal Year 2007-2008 mil rate is 29.92 mils. A mil is equivalent to 1/10 of a penny per dollar of assessed property value, therefore 29.92 mils would be expressed as 0.02992. To calculate property tax, multiply the assessed property value by .02992. For example, an average property assessed at $144,000 would be taxed as follows.

$144,000 x 0.02992 = $4308.48
