Board of Selectmen

The Board of Selectmen, which consists of the First Selectman and four (4) other Selectmen, was elected for a four year term under Town Charter rules effective 2010.  At the 2015 municipal election new charter rules will be in effect (see Section 6.01 of the Charter).  In accordance with the Town Charter, no more than three (3) members - exclusive of the First Selectman - shall be of the same political party. The Board elects from within its own membership a Deputy First Selectman who shall serve as acting First Selectman during the absence of the First Selectman. The current Deputy First Selectman is Stephen Roberto.

The general powers of the Board of Selectmen are identified within Article 6 of the Town Charter. Current members of the Board of Selectmen will hold office through November 2015 and their respective contact information is listed below:

Meetings are held every second and fourth Wednesday of the month typically beginning at 7:00 PM at the Canton Community Center, 40 Dyer Avenue, Canton.
