Collinsville HOT, a sizzling village and river celebration, will introduce a full day of activities, entertainment, food, crafts and a special “water fire” display to inaugurate the new Collinsville Streetscape and Flower Bridge.

The family-friendly event will kick off Saturday morning, July 25, with an outdoor community yoga class, an art and craft fair, an outdoor farm-to-table dining event plus entertainment, all leading up to a spectacular water fire display at night. Rain date will be July 26.

The brainchild of the Collinsville Merchants Association, Collinsville HOT seeks to attract residents and visitors from a wide geographic area to enjoy the unique qualities of Collinsville this summer.

“Collinsville HOT will draw attention to the broad range of experiences that make Collinsville a true destination,” said Shawn Cole, president of Yoga Center of Collinsville and one of the event organizers. “The natural beauty of the river, the historic mill, the Farmington River Rail Trail, the restaurants, the entertainment and art – summer is the best time to enjoy it all. With our Streetscape and Flower Bridge projects complete, July 25 will be the perfect time to celebrate our very special place.”

Collinsville is already a hub of activity with 12,000 daily vehicle trips on State Route 179 plus hundreds of bicycle and pedestrian movements per hour on the Farmington River Trail. The river is a highly popular destination for eco-tourism, fishing and kayaking. Historic attractions, such as the Collins Company and surrounding village which has been preserved as it was in 1900, bring thousands of visitors to Collinsville each year. The area has also become an entertainment destination offering multiple restaurants, music venues, and a theater company.

The Collinsville Streetscape project is now adding streetlights, landscaping, pedestrian safety features and a performance space to the area. The Flower Bridge will serve as a gateway to Collinsville, encouraging motorists to park their cars and enjoy the diverse and entertaining Collinsville experience. All improvements are scheduled for completion in early July – plenty of time for Collinsville HOT.

“We invite the public to enjoy our sizzling village and river celebration on July 25th in Collinsville,” said Francesca Nadeau, another event organizer and owner of Francesca’s restaurant. “There’s nothing like it anywhere else. Collinsville HOT is the place to be.”
