10/22/2015 - Town Fire/EMS Chief Candidate

FIRE/EMS CHIEF

The Board of Selectmen is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief of the Town of Canton Fire Service/ Emergency Medical Service Department.  The successful candidate will meet the minimum standards as outlined in the attached position description.  The appointment by the Board of Selectmen, following consultation with the Chief Administrative Officer, is for a term of four (4) years beginning January 1, 2016 and ending December 31, 2019.    The position currently receives an annual stipend of $10,000.

The Appointment Process

Interested candidates should submit a written letter of interest, detailed resume and supporting materials describing abilities and skills and how these match against the minimum requirements of the position no later than Thursday, November 19, 2015.  After a review of the written submissions, a seven (7) member panel consisting of representatives of the volunteer fire service from Collinsville, Canton and North Canton stations, the EMS division and the Fire Police, along with two (2) members of the public will interview interested candidates.  Based on the interviews, the panel will recommend not more than three (3) candidates for consideration to the Board of Selectmen.

The Board of Selectmen will interview the recommended candidate with the appointment to follow shortly thereafter.
